Laying the foundation for Western Sydney’s city of the future.
Bradfield will be Australia’s newest city and is set to be the ‘next jewel in Sydney’s crown.’ The development of the new Aerotropolis will support thousands of jobs on the doorstep of the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. The Final Business Case (FBC) for Bradfield City First Stage Enabling Works included a number of critical elements design to help support investment in the project. These include a complex program of enabling works, the development of public infrastructure, a number of targeted private land acquisitions as well as amenities and place making features.
In June 2021, following successful approval of the FBC submission, the NSW Government committed $1.15 billion to start work on the Bradfield City Centre Enabling Works. This will allow the developers to establish, remediate and develop about 100 hectares of land, driving the COVID-19 economic recovery not only in NSW, but across the nation.
The funding will also help to create a key Indo-Pacific economic hub, attracting international investment in advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defence, agri-business, pharma, freight and logistics, health and education.
Our role
MBB Group was engaged to complete the Delivery Strategy and Project Management Plan for the FBC, along with other supporting documents. WPCA required these key FBC inputs to be completed in a hyper-compressed timeframe to meet political deadlines for FBC submission to INSW Gate 2 and NSW Treasury.
MBB Groups’ proven ability to mobilise quickly and effectively develop and coordinate INSW documentation resulted in high quality, on time submission.
MBB Group’s engagement was later extended to include coordination, wider WPCA workstreams workshops and liaison to develop an updated master program for delivery of the First Stage Enabling Works program.
