Increased opportunities for students and the community
Canterbury Boys High School (CBHS) is part of a funded schools hall upgrade package. The package will see CBHS receive a new multi-purpose hall, upgrading their facilities from Stream 5 to Stream 9.
The awarding of the package responds to the currently undersized gym, which has limited adequate indoor sport court capacity to support the related curriculum. The investment will expand the performance and presentation functionality of the school, strengthen ties with the catchment by offering community use opportunities, and generate an increase of student enrolment over time.
With the entire school site heritage listed, a Development Application was also required to ensure a sensitive architectural response to the surrounds.
Our role
MBB successfully led the project team in the development of a Master Plan, Concept Design, Schematic Development, Detailed Design and is currently in Construction. Through each project phase, the project team has ensured alignment with SINSW educational objectives to secure government funding. MBB successfully managed the planning pathway through DA and completed GC21 tender documents.
MBB’s extensive schools’ experience enabled our project team to identify and mitigate risks early to deliver on project objectives and were instrumental in the application of the development application. Development Application was approved ahead of schedule allowing works to commence earlier than planned.
MBB is working closely with SINSW stakeholders, Canterbury Bankstown Council and the consultants to ensure that new multi-purpose hall is built with high quality, delivered on time, and within budget.
