Setting the schedule for one of SA’s largest mines

Located 472 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, Carapateena is part of BHP’s Minerals Australia operations. The mine produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade, processing over 4.25 million tonnes of ore per annum.

Our role

MBB specialists were engaged to develop the Class 4 Schedule in line with the Project Manager and Supervisor estimations. Our controls specialist also provided planning support to the Construction Manager and relevant supervision for the construction of above ground and underground equipment, as well as a construction camp.

Our services

We were engaged to help provide structure to the program and support the coordinated efforts of multiple inputs from specialist suppliers.

We also provided planning, delivering a level 2 schedule with contracting and construction methodology. This included:

  • Developing the level 2 project schedule and assumptions registers
  • Developing resource loaded and levelled level 4 schedule for all project phases

Maintaining the schedule progress and variations until hand over to a BHP planner.
