Helping turn potential into reality
The NSW Government is in the procurement phase for the State’s first Renewable Energy Zone (REZ – also link to REZ page above) in the Central-West Orana region. The REZ is expected to unlock at least 3000 MW of new network capacity by the mid-2020s and bring up to $5.2 billion in private investment to the region by 2030.
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is the NSW-Government-controlled statutory authority leading the delivery of NSW’s Renewable Energy Zones. EnergyCo coordinates REZ generation, transmission, firming and storage projects to deliver efficient, timely and coordinated investment.
Our role
EnergyCo engaged MBB to assist in the development of CWO REZ transmission infrastructure, including leadership of the commercial workstream, undertaking transaction management and coordinating interactions with generators.
MBB developed and implemented the commercial aspects of the project. This included developing various governance and transaction documents, including the procurement strategy, the project development plan, a Request for Proposal (RFP), market engagement, evaluating expressions of interest, and shortlisting candidates.
MBB also set up and managed the dataroom for the bid, ensuring secure access and facilitating bidder interactions. The primary objective was to ensure compliance, transparency, and effective management throughout the procurement process.
