Metro Waste Water Program (QLD)

Providing specialist services to deliver better wastewater services

Queensland Urban Utilities (QUU) is a statutory authority of the Government of Queensland. They are responsible for the delivery of retail water supply and wastewater services across five local government areas in South East Queensland including Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, and Somerset councils.

The Metropolitan Wastewater program of works including multi-disciplinary engineering design and construction of brownfield and greenfield infrastructure.

This covers trunk water mains and catchments, specifically trunk main renewals, new trunk mains, valves and couplings, the creation of District Metered Areas, installation of Pressure Relief Valves and network flow meters, reticulation water mains, reactive and proactive renewal programs, fire flow improvements and service improvements. The program will also see the establishment of new reservoirs with works including roofs, access, security, electrical and control systems, transfer and booster pump stations, and dosing facilities.

Our role

We were engaged to provide expert project controls (Planning, Estimation and Risk) services to supplement the Fulton Hogan team on the Metro Waste Water program.

This was delivered as an external specialised assurance team.

Our services

We assisted QUU successfully deliver the program by ensuring the RAMP’s Bronze, Silver Gold process was expertly delivered and provided SMEs guidance on where shortfalls were identified and possible solutions.

We further supported the success of the project by always having resources available to assist in key project controls areas.

  • Project Planning
  • Scheduling
  • Estimating during Front-End (and utilising the Quantitative Risk Assessment process)
  • Development of a Risk Assessment and Management Plan (RAMP) including and integrated schedule, and cost risk assessments in a Bronze, Silver and Gold approach, and oversight of a Risk Lead to oversee the delivery of the RAMP.
